Popes, peacocks and panoramas

Thanks to everyone who joined the BEG team for a walk on Saturday 16th June and everyone who visited our table in Silver Jubilee Field.

Some of the favourite Binfield paths nominated by our visitors were Wicks Green Lane, Mosses Path, and the Hill Farm Circuit. We also met a lovely Australian couple who had come to see Ryman's Path - they were Rymans on holiday, visiting their family in the village. So the fame of Binfield's paths is now officially international!

Some of the best thing seen while walking around Binfield were red kites; hedgehogs; stag beetles; butterflies (especially Marbled Whites, Small Coppers and Speckled Wood); and veteran trees.

As a result of the success of the day, we are now organising a more adventurous 5.5 mile walk for 11:00 on Sunday 8th July. The walk will start and finish at Popes Meadow Car Park and will visit Piglittle and Peacock Meadows, Wykery Copse, Jubilee Way and a number of little used footpaths in the south of the borough. Walkers will need long trousers and robust footwear, as some of the paths could be overgrown. The duration of the walk will be approximately 3 hours depending on how long we stop at the Peacock Farm pub for lunch.

Please let us know if you are planning to join us.
